Email admin@kea-academy.co.nz and a person will reply. Kea Academy is made by one person in Aotearoa New Zealand, so answers come from someone who knows the app rather than from a help desk.
It helps to say which phone you are using, whether you are signed in, and what you expected to happen.
Yes. A grown-up signs in once with Google or Apple. That account is what holds your children, their quizzes and their results — so they survive a lost or replaced phone, appear on every device you sign in on, and can be shared with a second parent.
After signing in you set a 4-digit passcode. That is a separate thing from the account: the account says whose family this is, the passcode keeps a child out of the parent screens on a phone they have been handed.
No, and they cannot have one. A parent signs in and creates each child as a profile. Children never hold a password or an email address. That is deliberate, and it is not something we plan to change.
Yes. Quizzes are on the device, not fetched as you go, so a child can finish one with no connection at all. If you are signed in, finished quizzes are sent to the server the next time there is a connection.
There is no "forgot passcode" link, and we cannot reset it for you — the passcode is kept only on your own device and is never sent to us, so there is nothing on our side to look up.
What to do: delete the app, install it again, and sign in. Your children, quizzes and results come back from your account, and you can set a new passcode. Nothing is lost, because the account rather than the device is what holds your family.
Notifications tell a parent that a child has finished a quiz. Two things are worth checking before anything else: that notifications are allowed for Kea Academy in your phone's settings, and that you are signed in on the device you expect to be notified on.
One behaviour surprises people and is intended: you are not notified about a quiz finished on the device you are holding. The notification goes to your other devices.
From inside the app, in under a minute, without asking us. Instructions are here.
The privacy policy answers this in full. In short: your name and email, each child's first name and year level, and their quiz results. No advertising, no third-party analytics, and nothing that tracks anyone across other apps or websites.
Kea Academy is a paid app, and purchases are handled by Apple and Google rather than by us — so refunds go through them. On an iPhone, use reportaproblem.apple.com. On Android, use the Google Play order history. If something is not working, though, email first — a fix may be quicker than a refund, and we would rather know.
Kea Academy is aligned to the New Zealand Curriculum, levels 2 to 4, which is roughly Years 3 to 8. If a question looks wrong for your child's year, tell us — the question bank is written by hand and corrections are welcome.
